Our Trip To Badulla

(2018/12/25-26)

This is one of the earliest train-travels we did. Therefore, we didn't reserve our train seats. This resulted in us having an old type of train for our return journey. Actually, this coincidence made our scenes even more beautiful. But we were fortunate enough to have trains with empty seats for our both journeys. This is the longest train travel I ever did.

We stayed only for two nights in Badulla, and we returned home the other day as the trip was focused on the train travel rather than the Badulla city. In the night we came to Badulla, we visited a nearby famous temple. I'm not remember its name. (The temple of Badulla?).

Day 01

During the stay in Badulla, we visited a few places there. We went to visit an old wooden bridge. It was situated in a temple. The bridge was above a stream. That stream was flowing over a huge area of rock which was amazing. This bridge is said to be used by pilgrims to the Temple of the Tooth Relic (ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව / The royal palace of Kandy). There are some rumours related to this bridge and the temple it is situated in. You have to ask the locals there to know them.

Day 02

This was the last day of our trip. We returned home this day. We had our train from Badulla. It was morning, The train was almost empty. I remember me & my brother wandering around the empty compartments of the train. We saw the 9 arches bridge too. It was my first time. It was amazing how tall its pillars were.

Our journey was through lonely forests and hills for the longest time. Most of the land mostly had never been touched by humans. I felt for a moment as if I could walk in these lonely lands by myself & me (uncharted another person) which had no human for known kilometres.

We met a French family on the train. My mom enjoyed talking with them. They got down from Ella, which was the stop for Nuwara-Eliya.
